I’m in Essex Junction, Vermont, just outside of Burlington. Both my girls were born in Vermont. As nice as it is, I’d rather be in Colorado!
It’s a “fitting in” thing. I belong back west. It feels like home. People get my humor and reflect it right back to me, whereas here they have to think for a minute and wonder whether I’m making a joke. Like when I mentioned to a pregnant friend that it was a good thing they were waiting until the baby was born before they moved, because then the baby could help. She actually wondered whether or not that was a joke!
Humm, maybe that’s an Essex Junction thing, because most Vermonters would have said “damn right, I’m hoping for twins!” But of course, they would not have cracked a smile.
