New Goals

Happy New Year!

The first Round of A Round of Words in 80 Days for 2012 begins today. I’m psyched, even though it’s 4:30 in the morning and I should be sleeping instead of writing.

It has helped my overall productivity greatly to participate in these rounds, celebrating victories with fellow participants and giving myself an auto-reset every few months. This is far better than slowly slipping off track and having to find my own way back. The last round was great through NaNoWriMo, then I fell off the wagon.

Lessons have been learned.

So, new goals?

  • Yeah, 1k a day for 5 days a week is still good.
  • Someday, I want to reach 2k in 1 hour. I’ve come close, but never reached that benchmark.
  • I will begin another serial story and put a chapter up on the blog every Monday.
  • Although I won’t yet name a date, I will keep evaluating my own progress regarding novels and getting published, and I’ll make sure I have that long-term goal in sight instead of just splashing around in the pool having fun.
  • And since others are including fitness goals, I’m going to begin by doing one of the fitness workouts from cable-on-demand at least 5 days per week, even if it is just a little 5 minute routine of bellydance arm movements. (Don’t knock it till ya try it… my shoulder muscles are burning!)

  1. Ohhh, maybe I’ll join you in belly dancing! That sounds awesome! I’ve done yoga from the on demand menu, but I didn’t realize there was belly dancing!

1K a day for five days a week is awesome!

If you hit 2k in an hour, you’ll have to start a new twitter hashtag for it–I love participating in #1k1hr!!

    Good luck! Great goals!

What is this “on demand” you speak of? Sounds like just the thing I need to get me moving off my fat arse! lol.

Sounds like you’re really getting along great with your goals and I hope you continue to do so.

    All the best,

    • We have digital cable tv, and it has a fairly extensive selection of shows “on demand.” I just hit the “on demand” button and browse through the menu. A lot of TV shows are available about 24 hours after they air, so if I miss one of my favorites, I can watch it any time I want. There are lots of movies, some free, some pay-per-view.
I recently discovered that under “Sports and Fitness” there are numerous fitness routines. Yoga, aerobics, and then I noticed “Bellydancing!” Several of my friends do bellydancing and love it, so I tried a short one. It was only 5 minutes long, and concentrated on the arms, but it was a surprisingly intense upper body workout and tons of fun! Perfect for someone who is very out of shape but wants to do SOMETHING!

        Oh that does sound great!

I’ll have a flick through mine when I get a chance to see if I can find something similar. Thank you!

  3. I have a belly dancing workout video, and it’s one of the hardest workouts I’ve done. It’s also one of the most fun. 🙂

Good luck with your goals this round!

  4. Don’t have cable, but belly dancing is something I’ve always wanted to try… Wonder if there is a good dvd out there for beginners.

Good luck with all of your goals!

Love the goals! A good kick in the butt is *always* helpful, right? Happy New Year!

  6. I’m so going to do a search and see if I can find a belly dancing deal on TV. Did a yoga one over the summer that was a blast.

You’ve got some great goals going into this round. Wishing you all the best with them!

  7. Em says:

Great goals and I am glad someone else needs the motivation of ROW80 to get exercising! I attended a bellydancing class a couple of years ago and loved it, such a good workout and so fun! I must look up some more classes.

    Have a great week one!

  8. Sorry I’ve been so absent for so very long.

I hope you have a GREAT year, and you meet all your goals and surpass them!!

  9. Belly dancing is the best exercise! *Goes off to find DVDs*

Best of luck with your goals!

  10. I saw on twitter this morning. It was 8:30am for me though lol
Great goals you have there! And I love any dance style, even bellydance. Hope you enjoy it 😉
    Good luck!

  11. You can write nearly 2,000 words an hour? That’s amazing, more than I usually write in a whole day lol Good luck with getting published, and even though it’s a long term goal, don’t forge to have at least *some* fun in the meantime 😉

  12. Great goals and cheering you on to 2k an hour. I’ll have to check my on demand programming and check for some fitness shows. Great idea. Thanks.

  13. I will not join you for belly dancing, but I’m in for the word count!
