I mean…goals!
Yes yes yes…there was a wagon, which I fell off of, then a boat that I missed…but I am back on both and ready to set some goals for this Round of Words in 80 Days.
Back to my old standby:
- 1,000 words is an acceptable day
- 2,000 words is a good day
- more that 2,000 words is a great day
- It’s OK if I miss a day now and then, but not too many in a row.
New goal: Pick a project and finish the rough draft before diving into the next one. I’ve got too many unfinished works lying around. It’s one thing to decisively set something on the shelf…it’s something else to just abandon it with no plan.
This has been an interesting, though only partially productive week. The ideas flow…the words do not. I probably wrote about 5k last week altogether, but it was on multiple projects. I have several shorts I really need to finish up. Meanwhile, I’m still juggling bites from last week’s #Pit2Pub. Got a couple of rejections, but still several interesting leads.
I’ll keep you informed.
1600 so far today, and still much of the day to go; let’s go, let’s go! Faster, cheaper!
I am in the process of sending in my subs from last week’s pit2pub. So nerve wreaking!
I love your old ‘standby’-simple and you’re not ready to flog yourself for missing a day. I have finally stopped beating myself about that as well. I do what I can, when I can. And when I can’t, ’tis life, I say! And like you, I think it might be time to stick to finishing one project at a time and not jumping around. The hopping between projects that I’m doing is making me dizzy and not so productive.
Good luck the rest of the week!!
The only problem with missing a day is when it turns into missing two or three! I try not to let that happen.
Thanks!
Oy! I am so with you on the too many unfinished works lying around! And, just so you know, when I first read the address to your blog…I thought it read: amy be the universe. And since we share a first name, I was all like–YES! Be the Universe! So, thanks for that. Also, goats!
BE THE UNIVERSE!!!!!
Hello! I am an expert at scattered WIP and fully trained in unorganization 🙂 I’m new to ROW80 so I’m visiting a few people to get a taste of the group. I am quite impressed and excited to be a part of this community.
Glad you could join us!
Oy, the unfinished project pile tends to grow rather than recede, I hear you there. Working to change that.
I like the simplicity of your goals. Sometime I think that is how I tend to get more done when I have simply bare bone naked goals.
Here’s to an awesome week!!
Thanks! Too many ideas, too little time.
goats drew me in – amy be the universe kept me:) like the goals someone being kind to themselves – if you find a good way to decrease the pile of unfinished writing please let us know:) all the best
Someday, across a crowded room, I’ll see Amy Kennedy for the first time. I’ll yell “BE THE UNIVERSE!” and she’ll know it’s me.
